New Hampshire Poultry Fanciers Association

Welcome to the home page of the New Hampshire Poultry Fanciers Association. The primary purpose of this page is to act as the online show book for the annual NHPFA show. Using this website and printing the entry form saves the club on printing and postage costs, and is one small thing which you can do to support your hobby.

NHPFA each year organizes New Hampshire's only two officially sanctioned American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association shows. Our annual show is always held on the second Sunday of October. The poultry section of the Deerfield Fair is also set up and staffed mainly by NHPFA members, and it is sanctioned by the APA and ABA. NHPFA donates the sanction fees each year to the Fair, for the benefit of the New Hampshire poultry exhibitors. The poultry section of the Deerfield Fair is the finest of all the fairs in the state. None other comes close, partially due to the dedication and hard work of the NHPFA membership. For more information on entering the Deerfield Fair, see their website at http://www.deerfieldfair.com/

Show Room Courtesy

Please help us when it comes time to leave by removing all water cups and coop tags from your cages, and close the doors. At any show you attend, this little bit of help saves the show personnel time and lets them leave sooner. This is one way you can say thanks to the show personnel who
organized the show for you to attend. Better yet, why not pitch in and fold down a few cages? If every exhibitor took down and folded even one or two cages, it would cut clean up time immensely. Remember, there are fewer and fewer people willing to help with the show every year. Rewards are few, and work is much. Why not do your part to help the fancy?

Rules and Regulations

Submission of an entry or  offer of birds for sale or trade constitutes agreement to the following:

1. All entries must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor.

2. The show management will guard against contagious poultry diseases by immediately removing any bird exhibiting symptoms of a contagious disease.  Exhibitors should not knowingly exhibit any bird which has recently been vaccinated with a live vaccine, or which has recently been exposed to or exhibits symptoms of a contageous disease.

3. All poultry, except waterfowl, over 5 months of age must have been tested within one year for, and found negative to Salmonella Pullorum and avian influenza, identified by official leg band and must be progeny of Pullorum clean stock and free of all infectious and contagious diseases and exposure thereto.
Out-of-State Poultry: All out of state poultry entering the State of New Hampshire except bona fide exhibition entries are required to have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection or NPIP VS Form 9-3 and a Permit for Entry issued by the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture. Adherence to all state regulations is the responsibility of the vendor or exhibitor.

4.  Junior exhibitors (under the age of 18) may enter in the Open or Junior Division, the appropriate entry fee will apply. Junior exhibitors’ entries must have been raised and cared for by the Junior exhibitor. When entered in the Junior Division, the Junior exhibitor must be present during judging, and will handle his or her birds for the Judge.

5. All entries must be caged by 9:00 AM on Sunday, the morning of the show.  See the Next Show page for Saturday coop in times, which may change from year to year.

6.  Exhibitors must provide feed and water cups. Water is available in the show hall.

7. The show superintendent will release all entries after presentation of awards or at his discretion. All entries must be removed within one hour of show closing. Any bird left at the fairgrounds two hours after presentation of awards will become the property of the New Hampshire Poultry Fanciers Association.

8. Although all possible care will be taken to protect entries, NHPFA or it’s officers or directors shall not be held liable for any loss or damage to exhibits.

9. Birds will always be handled with care. Handling of birds should be kept to a minimum, and then only by the show’s judges, the owner, or  show staff.

10. Judging will be in accordance with the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association Standards of Perfection.

11. All birds owned by an exhibitor or a vendor shall be cared for humanely while on the show grounds, following generally accepted practices for feeding, water, protection from the elements and overcrowding.

12. Vendor spaces are available for a fee of $15.00 for anyone wishing to sell or trade birds or other animals, or agricultural related supplies.  Adherence to all State regulations is the responsibility of the vendor.

13. No puppies or kittens to be offered for sale, trade or gift. No dogs allowed at the swap or show.

Membership

At this time, NHPFA has an informal membership policy. Interested parties are considered to be members if they show up and help with club functions. Dues are paid by the labor that each individual puts into the club, or occasionally by assisting in other areas. The main two events at which members participate are the clean up after the Deerfield Fair, which is always held on the Monday after the fair closes, in preparation for our Annual show, and the clean up on the day of the Annual Show itself. A yearly organizational meeting is held each winter. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. Contact the Secretary/Treasurer or any officer for more information.
